Crux Central, the brand’s second climbing gym, stands apart with its integration of a coffee shop and bouldering area. Tasked with renovating an existing building, our design solution was simple: lift the roof and add clerestory windows to flood the space with natural light. This connection to the outdoors, even through the view of passing clouds, brings a unique energy to the climbers. The coffee shop is thoughtfully positioned with a window into the climbing area, keeping visitors visually connected to the action. Expanded kid’s zones, fitness studios, saunas, and lounge areas further strengthen Crux’s presence in Austin and foster the vibrant community it continues to build.
